FRIDAY 10:00-11:15 am

Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra

This class provides students with a foundation necessary to successfully progress to higher secondary and post-secondary math levels. It covers all of the traditional first-year Algebra topics while helping students build higher-order thinking skills, real-world application abilities, reasoning, and an understanding of interconnecting math strands. Students learn to focus on algebraic thinking through multiple representations, including verbal, numeric, symbolic, and graphical, while graphing calculator labs model mathematical situations.

Weekly practice reinforces the concepts taught in class and the teacher is available during live office hours and by email to assist students. Assignments are graded and students receive a mid-term report as well as a year-end course credit report. Students may take this class for Honors credit.
